Landmark Signs was founded in 1987 by John Myres, a second-generation sign maker who grew up watching his father hand-paint signs. From a young age, John was fascinated not just by the artistry of signage, but by its power to communicate a business’s identity in an instant. With a brush in hand and a passion for design, John launched Landmark Signs with a simple but powerful vision: create signs that aren’t just labels—but landmarks.

Back then, the signage industry was saturated with generic, mass-produced options. John saw a gap: businesses were forced to settle for signs that didn’t reflect their unique identity. So he set out to do things differently—custom designs, quality craftsmanship, and full-service project management, all under one roof.

Early on, John’s commitment to quality and customer care helped him land key local projects and win the trust of property managers and business owners across Southern California. These early successes shaped the values that still guide the company today.

Over the decades, Landmark Signs has evolved from a small workshop into a respected, award-winning signage company serving both local businesses and national brands. We’ve partnered with industry leaders like Verizon Wireless, First American Title, and Saban Community Clinic—handling everything from monument signs to full-scale multi-location signage rollouts.

We’ve earned top design awards from the International Electric Sign Association and the California Electric Sign Association. But we’re just as proud of our long-standing relationships with local Southern California businesses, who return to us again and again for signage that stands the test of time.
